Not as thick as I had hoped, closer to a thick mattress cover. Not much different from a down blanket, really. It’s basically a nice topper for firming up a foam mattress, or adding a hypoallergenic layer overtop something that’s not rated as being very “green”. We first tried this over a firm latex pad, and it did not add much noticeable improvement in thickness or softness. Next, we tried this down pad over a 2 inch thick foam pad, and it made all the difference! I am not at all a fan of foam pads. However, using this topper over the foam pad makes the foam less susceptible to sinking! Love it! Wow! What a comfortable mattress topper. We got the 4 inch and this is a VERY squishy topper! Im not too sure about the "medium firm" that they say it is, but we have used two different sheets, one more loose than the other, and the looser one definitey allows it to have more squish. We really like this waterproof mattress pad. We have a dog who sometimes has small accidents during the night. The pad fits our deep mattress easily and the fabric prevents any moisture from seeping through. One tip, we bought this as a replacement for the exact pad. Do not wash in a washer with an agitator. I did transfer this mattress topper to the bed in the guest bedroom (after trimming it to fit the queen size bed) and everyone who’s slept on it said they slept pretty good.
