This desk went beyond what I expected. There was a small issue with the sliding part upon arrival, but I managed to fix it easily using needle nose pliers. If that hadn't happened, I would consider it flawless. Assembly, apart from the additional metal work, was remarkably easy and even enjoyable. The final result is fantastic! I adore it. The two compartments on the top lift up to open but sadly they do not lock in place to remain open, which could be a little inconvenient but there is a slow close on it so it does not slam closed. **TIP** there is a piece that covers the top so you can possibly sit items up there that is probably some type of mdf board and it probably blends in with the packaging and mine was thrown out, so just be mindful and ask for that piece. LOVE this!! Almost as much surface area as the old rectangular desk but fits nicely in the corner giving it enough room to pull down the new Murphy bed without having to move it.
