The painting is smaller than I had envisioned, but that's my fault. The dimensions were for the picture and the frame; I should have realized that. The colors on this piece are vibrant and it is beautiful. I ordered the 22 x 28. This is the third framed artwork I've ordered from them and the only downside to these framed art pieces is the proportion size of the frame to the artwork. The frame is great quality, thick and substantial. But if you are ordering anything smaller than 20" its going to look huge against the picture. On a good note, the framing is awesome; they pay great attention to detail, provide hanging hardware, and even put little plastic pads on the back so it won't scuff your wall when you hang it.. This is a reproduction of Wlliam Ranney's Washington Rallying Troops at Battle of Princeton. The Battle of Princeton was a classic meeting engagement, both sides stumbled into one another, and neither expected to fight on the ground where the battle raged. When the American's spotted British troopers around William Clarke's farm, Washington detached Hugh Mercer's brigade to investigate. Mercer ran headlong into the 17th Foot, firmly stationed behind a fence at the end of Clarke's orchard. With the battle, and the war, hanging in the balance, Washington personally led fresh troops onto the field while grapeshot and canister from Joseph Moulder's artillery battery forced the British back towards William Clarke's farmhouse. Washington's counterattack broke the British line, which quickly turned into a rout.

"Paul Revere Warning John Sullivan of British Threat at Fort William and Mary" by Howard Pyle depicts when Paul Revere, already a key figure in Boston’s Patriot network, rode from Boston to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, on December 13, 1774. He carried a warning from the Boston Committee of Correspondence that British troops might secure the fort’s supplies, based on rumors of reinforcements arriving from England. His ride—less famous than his 1775 midnight ride—alerted local Patriots to act quickly. John Sullivan, a New Hampshire lawyer and militia leader (later a Revolutionary War general), was one of the key figures who organized and led the raid. On December 14, about 400 militiamen, including Sullivan, stormed the lightly defended fort, overpowered its small garrison (just five soldiers under Captain John Cochran), and seized 100 barrels of gunpowder, muskets, and cannon. The next day, they returned to remove more supplies, all without bloodshed. This raid was one of the earliest acts of open defiance against British authority, predating Lexington and Concord. The gunpowder taken was later used by Patriot forces, including at the Battle of Bunker Hill. It demonstrated the growing coordination among colonial militias and their willingness to use force.
