I bought these to help reduce the wind that we get on our deck. We have them attached to the railings. Last year we had to chase our furniture a few times during our wind storms but not this year. They worked very well as a wind break. They definitely had to be secured well to keep them in place. They look very nice and add to the look of our deck instead of taking away. If you don’t read anything else, just read this: use a 10 mm nut driver to put this together or you’ll surely go insane. The little “wrench” that it comes with will NOT do the job. Ok… this privacy screen is super easy to assemble it is just tedious because of all the nuts and screws. I have a small deck that needed a little privacy and this worked great. I couldn’t put them side by side the way they are supposed to be but I knew that before I ordered it. The position of the deck post was just a bit off and the foot of the screen couldn’t fit underneath. I just over lapped them a bit and used zip ties to keep them together. I also used the zip ties to attach it to the top rail of the deck. Decorated it a bit with some silk ivy and it gave me just what I needed. It comes with heavy duty anchors if you’re putting this on the grass but I am not sure how well it would withstand strong winds. It is very heavy and you probably need 2 people to lift each screen when assembled. I assembled it by myself and it took about an hour. Well worth the purchase for my purpose. I compared these from many places and decided to buy from Wayfair because of cost, and Ive bought from Wayfair many times before (and have had hot and miss experiences, but if I actually get the item, it has been fine). They are nice looking and fairly sturdy, although they fell over in a windstorm, despite the metal stakes that come with them. The biggest problem is that I think the reddish brown color just does not exist. I got what looks like the brown color. The boxes say reddish brown, but that is clearly not what they are. I saw reviews elsewhere that said the same thing. I paid more for the color I wanted and didnt get it. I bought these to convert to summer window screens on my 1958 house in Albuquerque, NM. In the summer, the morning sun hits my back windows directly and puts a lot of heat into the house (and I don't want to replace the original steel window frames). I cut the feet off of the screens and made brackets from 1.5" aluminum angle to attach to the window trim, plus legs to support the weight. The screens are very heavy, and the plastic geometric sections are fairly thick, which is nice. The frame is sturdy and the black finish is durable. Although the description says that these can't be painted, Rustoleum 2X seemed to adhere after scuffing the surface with a Scotchbrite pad and acetone. (We'll have to see how it holds up over the summer.) My only issue with these is that the panels bow in the sun. These are made in Canada, so maybe they're designed for Canadian sun and not the high desert. :) It could be exacerbated by the fact that I have the frame horizontal, but the panels were bowing when I had them individually upright to spray paint. I would have tried the steel ones but was less confident that I'd be able to get the rust off for a clean painting surface. It would be great if these were offered in a primed steel option for painting. Overall I'd say these are pretty nice, but would work better in a shaded area, or go with the metal version.. James. Pros= Absolutely stunning!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! Perfect for what I was looking for. A little bit of a barrier from our neighbors not so fishbowl vibe when sitting outside without obstructing the view of the lake or a harsh fence (unable to do so with HOA rules). It is so beautiful It has elevated my patio. I just bought more to add to my other side that doesn't even need a barrier just to add the beautiful look of these. Cons=Yes they come with a stand. However, in order for these to be left up outside and not have any fears of hurting anyone (they are heavy) they do need placement of additional support. If your placing under a covered patio should be just fine with sandbags/planters etc for added weight, however, we had ours freestanding out in the element there was absolutely no way my hubby was ok with that solution. We added the wood frame, (which honestly I think made these go from nice to breathtaking) attached it to one side of the house, and secured it to a cement bench we had, to the other side, that baby is not going anywhere. These are really nice privacy screens. They are a nice design and provide a nice amount of screening. The paint is plenty thick and has a nice powder coat finish to it, which helps in the protection of the paint.
