A simple rectangular frame is the lamp body, and on top another rectangular shade, they combined together and formed a perfect balance. The base is made of durable metal, painted with dark wood pattern, and the shade uses fine linen fabric. And the functional, it has an E26 light socket, needs a maximum 60 watts light bulb (sold seperately), and also on the bottom, it has an USB charger. Very nice! This lamp looks particularly great in the evening when it’s warm amber glow fills the room. The lampshade is beautiful, although mine arrived with a small crack at the bottom (see photo) it’s not a deal breaker, especially since I’m probably the only person who knows it’s there.The base is sturdy, but it does occupy a large area, at least it (the lamp) will certainly never tip over. The switch is located on the cord so it’s easy to get to. I would have given it 5 stars except for the cracked lampshade, let’s call it 4.9 stars. The packaging is protective and minimal and not one scratch or ding and I expect perfection. Took me 5-10 minutes to screw the pieces together without looking at directions. The black finish is a deep matt black. The base is nice and heavy so lamp will not tip at all. I've never had a lamp that has movement and it is such a a fun design. The gentle touch dimmer works well. I'm glad it does not have a foot pedal because they always flicker and then stop working. This lamp is quality and I don't see it ever being damaged or scratched in any way in my house. I hope the bulbs last as they say because there is no replacing them.
