I wanted a "girly" ceiling fan and light for my MBR, and this is the one I chose. Yes, the metal color is a bit brassy-pinkish -- some would say borderline tacky/campy -- but I like it for "glamming up" my bedroom. The crystals are beautiful and the 40 or so large, weighy spheres took about 45 minutes for me to attach after the elecrician removed the older fan and installed this one. The long crystals came pre-installed, with a couple extras included in case of breakage. The fan uses a remote and has 6 speeds, moving a surprisingly impressive amount of air. The LED lights have several different colors and brightnesses. The fan runs quietly and has no balance issues thus far (it's only been a week). The clear blades fold away neatly on top of the light fixture when the fan isn't being used. IF you are looking for an understated "elegant" fan/light, this might be over the top. It's a beautiful fan! We bought two, one for our bedroom and one for a back room that does not get much air circulation. The glass dome is very pretty and filters the light nicely. Make sure you get smaller bulbs with lower watts, standard light bulbs do not fit within the dome and higher wattage bulbs (over 60w) produced rather harsh light. This was simple to install. They try to make it easy to install by yourself but I required help lifting this up the ladder from my husband. I had difficulty placing all the items in screw it all up so you have to find the perfect positioning to make it work. We really like that it comes with a remote. We also had to change out our dimmer to a regular switch because it’s messes with light and makes it flicker but that’s what the remote is for. One thing I’m not so sure about is the LED. I’m really happy with this light/fan combo and it has been a fantastic upgrade for our kitchen. The vintage design looks even better in person, and it adds a lot of character without feeling too over the top. One thing I especially appreciate is that the light is bright enough to fully illuminate the room but doesn’t blind you when you happen to look up at it. The crystal cage softens the light nicely and gives it a warm, inviting look. Installation took a little more effort than I expected. The included instructions were a bit confusing in a few places, but if you’ve ever replaced a standard flush mount light, or follow an online video tutorial, you’ll have no problem figuring it out. It is somewhat heavy, so having a second person nearby can help, but one thoughtful feature is the built-in hook that lets the fixture hang from the ceiling while you connect the wiring. That made the hardest part of the installation much more manageable. The fan has been the biggest surprise. It’s incredibly quiet, even on the higher speed settings, and it moves enough air to keep our kitchen noticeably cooler during the summer without being distracting. It’s exactly what we were hoping for in a room where a traditional ceiling fan would have looked out of place. Overall, this fixture combines style and function really well. It takes a little patience to install, but the finished result is beautiful, the lighting is comfortable, and the quiet fan has been a wonderful addition for the warmer months.. Corinne.
