The clock is quite handsome, and the overall appearance is better than expected. The color is exactly what I was looking for. The brown is very rich with just a hint of red. Dark but not espresso. A little light and it really brings out the character and color. The clock isn’t real wood but it isn’t plastic, which you get on some (often cheaper) clocks. The engineered wood does keep it lightweight, however. My one complaint is to get the clock and chime working is hair-pulling. I followed the directions to a T and the problem is the little hand keeps falling down to around the 6 o’clock mark when you try to set the time. I ended up getting it to work but without the chime.. I do not think I would have bought it if I had seen it in person, but it is pretty, and I have it hung so I will keep it. I do love the pendulum. Some people had complained about loud ticking...I hear no ticking at all. It keeps good time. I think you would like it, just be aware it is not a bright clock. Perfect for a den or a study.
