It contains all sorts of protection to put on the various bike parts and does an excellent job of protecting the bike. In order to fit into the rather narrow "box" one must break down the bike. Handlebar and wheels need to come off. This could be difficult unless you are well versed in bike mechanics. Once packed, it is quite narrow and tips over easily. This is a great carrier -- well made and sturdy, the weather/water proof bottom to the pack is a nice feature for hiking and park days. It fits my 18 lb corgi well! Can hold a lot of items in addition to my pup. But it is quite a large backpack.
