Because they are going on a second floor ceiling, which is vaulted and might be 24 feet high. We have to have our electricians come out to install these. This is a beautiful light and one of few options (really no other options) for an elegant closest light with a classy pull-string. Be careful when installing. The glass is very fragilethin and the side metal pieces that are imbedded in the glass should not be used to spin the bulb in. Very delicate there. I had to order a replacement because the glass bulb broke while spinning it on. The second box came and the glass was broken in the box (at the same point where the metal rods meet the glass) and because there are seriously no other options like this with a pull-string, I tried a third time and thankfully it worked out! Great product for the price. The LEDs make it easy to change colors. Easy to install. This is the 10" and we could have gone a little bigger for the space. Had we gone with the 13" we wouldn't have to touch up paint around it, but I also like that they aren't that noticeable and something bigger might have been too obtrusive as this is just a small rectangle between multiple rooms.
