I ordered 4 of the large book cases and 4 of the smaller ones same style to make my built in unit for my office. The shelves were very fast and easy to put together. I was able to modify the smaller shelves to stack them to complete the built in. Beautiful, heavy wood in the mission style. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the backing. I wish furniture manufacturers would stop to consider that not every piece of furniture is going to be put against a wall, so it would be nice to have a decent backing. The back of this bookcase is some sort of shiny, vinyl covered panel and the color is awful. Maybe it was meant to be faux marble, but they missed by a mile. We did have to replace the broken magnetic door latches and there was minor damage to the back corner, but nothing noticeable. Pretty color but all arrived very dusty as if they'd been sitting out in a warehouse for a couple years (which they had, since Dec 2024). One had a faint scratch on a door, and the other door on that unit was installed a bit out of square, but we can deal with it as all three were in good shape otherwise. Overall the purchase is acceptable, especially given you can't find solid wood furniture anywhere anymore that doesn't cost at least twice as much as what we paid for these, which is saying something given we live in a metro area with a population of close to 9 million people. The bookcase itself is very nice, but some holes didn't line up when putting it together. Also the top portion and the bottom portion do not line up flush across the front. They are offset from each other. I did not see anything explaining that the pegs that hold the shelves are made of plastic. This is a nice, spacious bookcase. I do not give 5* because it came damaged. I ordered 2 bookcases and both came with a damaged side panel. Also I was not impressed how it looks in general. Coating looks cheap. Probably I would not buy it if I saw this bookcase in store. But it is too much work to return them and expensive too.
