Please make sure it can be exposed to direct sunlight. Insert it into soft soil or dig a hole for it in advance. We recommend keeping the solar panel clean always. They are IP65 waterproof so they can withstand rain, but they cannot be put into water for a long time, please don't lay them in a low-lay area to avoid soaking in water.

Have never used low voltage lights and have always used solar, however these are such a better upgrade. They work all the time and can be cut on or off which is nice. It is just the lights. You have to purchase a controller and wiring separately. Wasn’t too bad running the wiring in the rocks. We were going to use conduit but just buried the wiring well and nothing ever goes in the rocks. We loved this lighting so much we bought more and will be putting in our front yard as well. Great product for the price. The LEDs make it easy to change colors. Easy to install. This is the 10" and we could have gone a little bigger for the space. Had we gone with the 13" we wouldn't have to touch up paint around it, but I also like that they aren't that noticeable and something bigger might have been too obtrusive as this is just a small rectangle between multiple rooms.
