Overall, this is a very nice table. I could not give it five stars because of the difficulty in putting the 12 screws for the hinges in. Although the instructions do not indicate a drill is needed to start the holes and then a drill is also needed to screw in the screws. Because the wood is not prepared for the screws, doing it by hand is not possible. It is easy to put together other than that. WARNING: This cross-bar may need to be adjusted for full operation (best before you put the rest of the table together). I had to disconnect the top from the base 3 times to get it right. Default from the factory and the table may not close unless one holds down the side-skirting on the leaf. That sucks. Too far one direction and the table closes, but the leaf will not pivot out. Too far the other direction and the leaf pivots freely, but the table will not close without holding down the side-skirting on the leaf in it's folded position. There's a "sweet spot" such that both operations will work seamlessly. I had to relocate mine about 1/4" inch. It's best if you have a cordless drill and a partner to help. This set is beautiful, a perfect size for my space. It is as pictured. The cherry finish is not overly “ red”. Matches my cabinetry very well. Solid feeling set, chain/ gears for the expansion leaf. There was a small nick in table edge, should cover easily. There was a scratch , maybe just in the varnish, of the pedestal base, won’t easily be seen. Much more red than I was expectingthe pictures. Espresso is not the right name for the finish. It is very much a cherry finish. The table fits our needs. However, it took 4 separate shipments to make it right. Two tables were damaged and one was the wrong color. Judging by the damages, I think the problem is in how they have been stored. It appears that perhaps too much weight is put on top of the boxes which crushes the product.
