Kandu introduces a new way of cooking, based on an ancient old tradition. A way of cooking where you no longer cook just one part of your food at a time, but one where your food gets cooked left, right, top, bottom and - uniquely - center at the same time. Let’s start with the basics. Kandu is a charcoal oven that is used for vertical cooking. Vertical cooking? Yes. Traditional barbecues, including the Kamado types, work through a principle we call ‘horizontal cooking’. Food is put on a grate and put over a fire. This means largely only one side of your food is being exposed to the heat at a time, which means longer cooking times and loss of moisture, nutrients, and taste. With Kandu, the heat (which can reach temperatures up to 750°F) will quickly sear your food from all sides and even from the inside out. Food is ready in no time. This means more succulent meat, crispy veggies, and juicy fish - while maintaining the delicious flavor, juiciness, and nutrients. Kandu uses 3 to 4 pounds of charcoal (depending on which type) for consistent temperatures for 3 to 4 hours.

We have not had a chance to put this together. We are in the middle of moving and didn't want to damage it. That being said, the first impressions are really good. It is easy to tell the item is going to be very sturdy and durable. Perfect for holding our Green Egg. We needed something to hold our grilling supplies and this should be perfect. - First impression once assembled, looks just like the model online. However, the wood top had 2 damaged areas 1 a scratchgouge, another that had a stain that someone tried to color in and varnish over. We had put so much work that when we noticed it, we were an hour in and didnt want to have to wait for a new one. - Assembly with two people, it took about 2 12 hours to assemble. It was a pretty simple process, but they were just a lot of pieces. There were two times that the instructions were unclear in terms of the direction certain pieces had to go in, and in other areas it seemed like the steps could have been done in a better way. But overall it was simple but tedious. Instructions would earn a 94 out of 100. Finished we are very happy with the entries result. It goes really well with our other furniture and the sage green color is really pretty. I like the extra space with the flip top wood on top, but part of me wishes that the extra piece was on the other side. Also, since we use this for a space between our kitchen and dining room, the paper towel holder seems a little out of place. If it was just for the kitchen it would make sense. But thats a personal preference. The drawers are nice and deep, and the shelves are movable so that you can adjust them to various heights if your needs change. Overall we are very happy and glad that we saved the assembly fee. The reasons for not giving a five star two gouges on the wood top, and a few areas of the instructions had to be figured out. Handles get hot. Treat the pans gently. They do cook nice as long as you cook on medium to low heat . They are basicly the Our Place Everypan that I was hoping to replace .
