I initially gave it 5 stars, but after sitying on it a bit I docked a star. Nicely made, sturdy, and attractive. However, the design could use some improvement. The back doesn't slant back quite enough and the seat doesn't have the slight backward slant that most chairs have. The front of the seat is the same height as the back, and the middle has a slight scoop that makes it look like it would be comfortable, but the overall feel is more like a church pew. I'm thinking about taking about 1 1/2 to two inches off of the back legs. But then of course I'd have to slightly cut angles into the bottom of all the legs as well, so this would be a project that will mean disassembling the bench and will take a lot of figuring, measuring, and care. I really don't need another project this summer and had hoped to relax on my bench with my morning coffee. Although this is a very labor-intensive piece to make, the tops are completely handmade using reclaimed wood from antique doors. The legs are hand-distressed in antiqued colors. Each one is unique and will vary slightly. We have this reclaimed top old door bench in three distressed colors. The color refers only to the color of the legs.
