The Prestow uses a simple butterfly mechanism - gently pull on either end of the table to 'open' the sliding mechanism and reveal the extension piece concealed under the top. Its a nice piece of furniture, but be careful of the color. When I saw vintage white , I knew that it would be rustic and not pure white, but this is well beyond that. Its creamy on the yellow side. Ive been in the paint business for 40 years and it is stretching it to even call it an off-white. See the attached picture. I ended up dry brushing some white over it so that it better matched my existing furniture. You can see the before and after. Once again, happy with the furniture, just factor in the color.. Darren. It is a solid, beautiful table, and very easy to assemble. I would give 5 star if the table top wasn't damaged. It has a very large defect in the wood itself. It was not damaged during shipping. The item was very well packaged. I will add foots later and will be contacting the customer support team for a replacement. In overall, this is very pretty, small dining table and fits perfectly the farmhouse atmosphere I am creating in one of my rooms. Review update: 01.04.2021 - I've reached out to Customer Service today and I am very pleased with their prompt solution and replacement of the table top.
