The base is nice and heavy, when you screw the base on, it all looks like one seamless piece. This is a matte finish, very handsome. Not a shiny polyurethane look. Nice matching finial, the shade is attractive. Again, I was pleasantly surprised with the appearance of the shade for the price point. So simple to put together and quickly done. This is a nice looking lamp. I got it because I thought it would go well with the Mission-style of furniture in my son’s bedroom and I think it does.
