Like so many families, Thanksgiving is a really special day for ours. With countless busy days during the year, we look forward to gathering in one home and unplugging from the rest of the world to reconnect with each other.

Of all the traditions I hold dear to my heart, one of my favorites is the Thanksgiving tablescape. Each year, my aunt sets a beautiful table, incorporating natural elements like fragrant pine and festive cranberries. Lately, I’m particularly smitten with tartan tablecloths.

A Thanksgiving play list is conducive to the merry-go-round of chatter that can be found at our family’s table. Beginning the first course at one end of the dining room, I will likely have made my way to each aunt, uncle, grandparent, and cousin by dessert.

To complement our holiday cheer, we often listen to a compilation of these favorite songs:

1.  Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Theme // Vince Guaraldi

2.  Sweet Potato Pie // James Taylor & Ray Charles

3.  Homeward Bound //Simon & Garfunkel

4.  Cold Turkey // John Lennon

5.  Crumbs from your Table // U2

Finally, a spread of festive to-go containers makes leftovers into a sweet favor. I always look forward to a second visit to the turkey and pie—especially when dressing it up in a pretty container to take home! Kraft paper, holiday tins, or boxes and bakers twine are my favorites. Adding a make-your-own label station is another fun addition!

I love hearing from other families on the topic of entertaining. Will you share your favorite Thanksgiving tradition?

Great post by Erika!! The to-go containers are a great idea : )

    • So glad you enjoyed, Katie! I love my leftovers :) Do you have a favorite entertaining tradition?

  2. Love the natural look of the centerpieces and table settings. Perfect for Thanksgiving. My brother does the big meal at his home complete with fabulously packaged leftovers for everyone to take home and we always appreciate the extras to-go!
