This tub transfer bench is extremely sturdy! The wide suction cups on feet really do make a huge difference in preventing slip and tip. I'm very confident transferring in and out of shower on this bench independently. Do recommend: add a rubber tub mat with suction cups to floor outside of tub/shower for legs outside. Prevents wheels on chair and other two legs from slip or slide. Of all the other models/styles of transfer benches I tried at rehab hospital I can say this is the sturdiest and safest."..." I looked everywhere for a bath/shower chair that would feel comfortable and secure and that had a deep seat and a back. I'm 5'8 and all other chairs I found had too narrow a seat that left my upper legs with no support at all. I felt I would easily slide right off it! The only less than perfect feature of this chair is that the legs are so wide they almost sit on the curved part of my standard-sized tub so that it can't be easily moved while taking a shower. In spite of this, I'm very pleased with the chair and I would give it a 5 star rating, but the system didn't allow me to go back to make the change from a 4 star to 5 star."..." Read more

I purchased this transfer bench for my husband, who has multiple sclerosis. It is perfect for when we travel because it is lightweight and comes apart for easy storage. It assembles in seconds and is very sturdy, plus the back can be installed on either side of the bench. My husband can easily trasfer from his wheelchair to the outside part of the bench, then lift his legs over the tub side and slide himself over to the shower area of the bathtub.
