I have only had the umbrella up for about 2 weeks. It seems to be very well constructed. I am not sure what I was expecting, but I am surprised at the simplicity of the design. The umbrella arrived via Fedex Home Delivery - well packed and in pristine condition. The installation instructions were relatively easy to follow. I installed the umbrella on a deck, so I had the "deck plate" option. I did have to go purchase some lag screws - to complete the installation (it would seem like they could be included with the deck plate kit). Although they do recommend that you close the umbrella during rain/wind, the umbrella was very stable in a small unexpected rain/wind storm. The umbrella opens and closes very easily with a small crank. You can also rotate (around) the whole umbrella assembly and tip the umbrella (only) as needed - depending on the sun's position. Lastly, the entire umbrella can be easily removed and stored at the end of the season - leaving only the deck plate on the deck. The deck plate is roughly 9 inches round and 1/2 inch thick, so it will not bother anything at all. I will probably just put a table over it! All in all, I am a very happy guy."..."  Read more

We use the umbrella at our raised deck at our inground pool. It provides a great amount of shade. We love the colour and the look. It matches our outdoor patio furniture. Two items we are a little unsure about. On windy days we found the umbrella really sways. We realized right away that part of the problem is we need to get a heavier table, as the umbrella is quite top heavy and even with the weighted stand underneath the table, the umbrella was actually moving the table across the deck! We solved this problem by tying down the corners of the umbrella loosely to the surrounding fencing around the deck. Also, we are nervous about the cord snapping when opening the umbrella, at the very end of the opening process. The tension on the cord is very tight. However, all in all, we love it, but thought you would like to know our issues. Thank you."..."  Read more

This is the second Coolibar Cantilever Patio Umbrella we've ordered...and we couldn't be happier with its performance. Extremely easy to set up -- we had it out of its packing box and open on the deck in less than 10 mins. The umbrella bell is large and taut...no excessive flapping around and it is very east to open and close. We have a large sand-filled stand instead of the recommended pavers to hold the umbrella and it holds very well even in the strongest winds. The canopy is light yet strong...it looked like new after two years in the high desert sun. One caution - be sure to lower the umbrella and bungee cord it to its stand if you expect high wind action. Our first umbrella was caught out and even though the canopy was down, the wind it and broke the top joint beyond repair. However, the product is so perfect for our deck we had to get another one."..."  Read more

I love this umbrella! I use it with a 5 piece patio table and chairs. The patio has an east, southeastern exposure, so we get full sun until early afternoon. The material is (I'm guessing) about a #10 cotton duck or lightweight canvas. It totally screens the sun and repels rain, yet it is fast drying. A crank opens the umbrella and a push button operates the tilt. Both are very easy to use. The only drawback is no strap to secure the umbrella when folded. We get some wild straight line winds in spring and summer and I was worried about wind gusts getting under the umbrella and maybe tipping it over. But I resolved that by using a small bungee cord. I looked at umbrellas that are twice the price and none were manufactured any better and certainly weren't worth paying double. I will most definitely buy this product again."..."  Read more
