Got this for my husbands sunroom office. The fabric is soft and smooth, although it’s a faux leather it feels like a microsuede. The black is a matte mid black/dark grey versus a dark black. I am pleasantly surprised as to how comfortable this chair is. After first sitting in it I thought this chair is not going to be soft enough for me to sit in for 8 hours a day 5 days a week! I was wrong. It's wide enough that I don't feel the sides closing in on me and is very comfortable! No sore bottom, no back ache, nothing. My husband put the chair together for me but he said it was super easy. I use the chair at it's highest setting to fit under the desk and lower it to fit under the desk when done for the day. We'll see how long the hydraulics last but for now it works flawlessly. I'll update this later if things change. Got this chair to go with the Lengby Computer Writing Desk which I also love!. Debbie. Did quite a bit of research for an ergonomic chair for my home office and finally settled on this one. Easy to put together. I have used it 2 days now and I really like it.
