I use the flush bling in my great room and the semi flush in the kitchen. They both look great but the semi flush is more interesting. I used the flush in the great room so the lamp would not not draw your eye from artwork hung near it. The kitchen Bling replaced some hated flourescent tubes which were recessed into the ceiling (uses acrylic panels). I removed the flourescents and the trim piece, refinished the recessed area, and hung a semi-flush bling. Easy job and looks fantastic. My only complaint is that I had to bend the center piece in a vise to get the glass to line up correctly. I had a different issue with the Kovacs Grid where I had to glue the shade in place because it would slip out (they fixed this issue on a newer Grid lamp I bought). First off it looks great. I also have the semi-flush version in my kitchen and it looks even better. They do not cast spots on your wall like some reviews state (just a little on the ceiling next to the fixture - I like it). Unlike some flush mounts you can adjust this to fit snug against the ceiling. One Problem: This and the semi-flush mount have a bolt/washer assembly that holds the glass. On one of them I had to put the assembly in a vice and bend / hammer it so the glass would be centered and not tilted in the fixture (the glass was VERY tilted and not centered in one fixture). Hopefully Kovacs will fix this in the future (I noticed they fixed the Grid family that used to have a problem with the shade sliding out)."..."  Read more

I purchased three of these lamps to replace existing 12 volt pendants in my kitchen. The three challenges I experienced with installation were: 1. The ceiling canopy should be deep enough to house the transformer. Instructions call to place transformer in the junction box, but there were too many existing wires for this to easily fit. 2. If you want to shorten the cable length, you have to ensure that you cut the outer wire braided housing and not the insulation. 3. The lights come with 50w halogen bulbs. You can purchase lower wattage bulbs or install a dimmer switch. I did the latter and it works great!"..."  Read more
