A few weeks ago I was given the opportunity to do a product review from Wayfair superstore. This offer could not have come at a better time, as I'm transitioning to working from home. My job requires a full day of computer time, and sitting passively in front of the computer all day somehow makes me simultaneously lethargic and distractible. With the transition to home, I was hoping to switch to a standing desk. I wasn't sure if I could make the switch successfully (I have enough ergonomics experience to know this transition would have to be handled correctly, or I'd abandon my shiny new desk to sit on the couch all day), so I wanted an economical solution that I could try on for size. My favorite part of the Wayfair shopping experience was the search capabilities. I really had no idea where to start, but was able to quickly narrow the field by selecting variables like Desk Height (the slider controlling price point was particularly helpful. Yes, there is a [$] desk available. No, I don't need to know about it). In the end, it was the diagram below that really let me hone in on the desk I wanted to try. I needed to make sure that a drafting desk would be able to give me a flat surface at a height high enough to meet my needs. The specifications provided for the Alvin and Co. Professional Drafting Table looked perfect[...]assembly required a bit more effort than expected (it would have been nice for the description to include a list of required tools). Nothing outlandish was necessary, just a hammer and a screw driver, but I had a disproportionate feeling of handiness once all was said and done.I would definitely recommend this table to others as a flexible, easy to set up standing desk."..."  Read more

I bought this table for my 10-year old daughter and she is very happy with it so far. Right now she does her homework on it. I will be home-schooling her in the Fall and we will need something that she can use daily for writing, drawing, reading, etc. This table is big and sturdy enough for her to do all of her schoolwork, plus arts, crafts, and sewing. She loves the fact that it has a built-in pencil trough, shelf, and book caddy. I like the fact that it tilts up, helping to improve her posture and reducing strain on her neck when she spends long periods of time at her desk. She is able to tilt it and put it back down without assistance. The table is also height adjustable, so we can use it for years to come. The quality is good, from what I can tell. Pretty easy to assemble - no problems. I bought a very nice desk chair for my daughter too, but unfortunately, the arms of the chair are at the exact same height as the table top when adjusted to a comfortable height. Perhaps a stool or an armless chair would be a better choice. All in all, a very good table for the money."..."  Read more

Nicely designed table-- the extra tilt (70 degrees vs 35 degrees on most tables) is very useful for good posture and lack of perspective distortion when doing serious drawing. The top easily adjusts with one hand. Assembly is straightforward and intuitive if you are used to IKEA or other flat pack furniture items. The one issue is that the drawers and trays are made from brittle plastic-- you need to be careful putting them together so they dont crack. These accessories are also attached with tap screws and you need a heavy duty screw driver and good judgement to tighten them properly. However the main fittings are countersunk with nuts and fit together easily. The castors makes this table more useful in small spaces-- you could use it under with a Murphy bed for example. The unit is well packed for shipping. I thought about getting the optional light pad mount, but an ordinary clip lamp under the table works just fine for tracing so I wont bother. Overall an excellent value and ideal for home use-- I would want something heavier for serious institutionalmultiple user applications."..."  Read more

This table is very heavy but very sturdy. Extremely well made. It is well packed for shipping and even comes with most of the tools needed to assemble it. Assembly took about 30 minutes. The table lifts so smoothly and quietly. I am 5'8" and with it fully lifted it comes to just below my armpits. Not sure why it goes so tall but if you need a study standing desk that goes very high this is the desk for you! It also lowers to a very low height (about just above my knees - again, not sure why you need something that low - but it has great range). The casters roll easily and each caster may be locked. I have 2 monitors on a monitor stand that is just setting on the desk and it doesn't wobble at all when moving up or down. There is a tray in the back of the desk for holding all of the cords which is a really nice feature. The controls can be set up for left or right handed use. I just had back surgery and cannot sit for peiods longer than about 30 minutes. This desk makes it so I can easily work while standing which is very comfortable. A side note - the support bars at the bottom of the desk make a perfect footrest."..."  Read more
