Architec Housewares is the fastest growing division of Plastec Industries. Established in 2000, Architec’s customers, Crate & Barrel, Williams Sonoma, Macys, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Linens N Things have consistently looked to Architec to provide freshness to their current assortment. Architec first became recognized for a cutting board that sparked a change in the entire category, THE GRIPPER, a hard cutting surface thermally bonded to a soft bed of gripping octagons, offered in an array of colors, the boards were almost immediately available in all of the above mentioned retailers. Many large publications continue to feature the product in print and publicity. For the past three years, architec has focused on building brand recognition within the cutting board category and expanding products and brand into other segments of the market while continuing to innovate in its original category. New category launches were extremely well received in 2006, Architec’s PREPS melamine colanders, PREPS bowl sets, WHOOSH paper towel holder and STRETCH Hot Cooking Bands have spurred plenty of media attention from publications set to feature in Q4, like Oprah Magazine – O List, Bon Appetit, Family Circle, and Real Simple.
