I ordered the Risedale chair for my 5'3" 86-yr-old mother, and she finds it very comfortable. The ottoman that I bought with it is the perfect height for the chair and allows various changes of position, very important for arthritis sufferers. She particularly likes that it looks like regular furniture, not "medical equipment," and it suits our living room so well that even frequent visitors don't notice the new addition right away. Mom never liked recliners; so many of them aren't comfortable for women. Plus, the ones with the whole chair tilting are rather intimidating. She much prefers the Risedale with the gentle assistance of the seat-only lift, with the arms staying level. The chair is sturdy enough that she has only used the arms to help herself up so far, but the day will come when she needs the lift.
