On firm side, but very comfortable! This is for a spare bedroom. This mattress is a narrow double mattress by two inches . It's 52 inches wide instead of 54. I though a double mattress was a double mattress. Not so. I have to push the mattress to one side and put blankets or rolled-up towels in the space on the other side in case my granddaughter would fall out so she didn't come down on the makeshift ledge that the shortage of 2 inches creates. I ordered the 12-inch mattress, and Ill admit I was a little hesitant when I first unboxed it because it was still expanding. However, after letting it sit for the full 48–72 hours, it fully expanded just as it was supposed to. As you can see in the picture with the bed frame, it looks great!
