I wanted a shelving unit for my old VHS collection that had a unique appearance and wasn't just a basic rectangle. The shelf sizing was the perfect fit and it looks great fully assembled. The assembly is very time consuming and exhausting, which is to be expected with any furniture product that ships. I highly recommend using an electric screwdriver for time and to protect your hands. I did the whole thing myself in about 3.5 hours and my hands took a week to heal from using a regular screwdriver. If you're not into labor-intensive assembly, then you'll need help from someone you know or a professional. If you're not strong, balanced, or coordinated, then you will 100% need someone to help you during the step to lift the top into place over the bottom half. It's heavy. I did it myself, which was risky and thought for sure I was making a mistake it until it rather-quickly slid over the connector nubs. Moving the bookcase into place is also best with help. I dragged mine on smooth flooring and, because of the weight, some of the rubber protection left streaks that were tough to wash off. You'll also want to be sure the surface you're building on is clean. The surface of the wood will scratch and be noticeable on the black boards. I didn't do a great job vacuuming and wiping the area down before starting. My fault. Anyway, I love the end result. The only things that may be questionable for some buyers are the stickers that hide the screw heads and the little plastic brackets that secure the backing. Firstly, the stickers will begin to peel if you get any fingerprint residue on them before applying or if your home is too humid. They do give you extras if you make a few mistakes. I didn't use the plastic brackets for the backing though. You have to drill them into the wood, making your own holes. I didn't want to risk damaging the product. I'm sure they have a good purpose but I left them off. The product does include anti-tipping hardware. If you have kids and/or pets, you may want to secure it to the wall. As for the ordering process, the shipping to delivery timeframe is a mild rollercoaster. They are honest about keeping you updated, which is a lot. Sometimes too much. You have to watch the updates because my delivery was delayed by Fed Ex and their own updates often make zero sense. I was exhausted just from having to be available at changing times. Not on Wayfair, just the delivery process. Be sure to carefully inspect every single part for damage or signs of a returned product, and that you received everything listed in the manual BEFORE you begin.
