The back bezel prevents items from falling into the wall cracks that are not easy to pick up. 8 shelves can be height-adjusted or removed, please adjust according to your needs. Assembly is required, but the steps are easy to understand.

I wanted a shelving unit for my old VHS collection that had a unique appearance and wasn't just a basic rectangle. The shelf sizing was the perfect fit and it looks great fully assembled. The assembly is very time consuming and exhausting, which is to be expected with any furniture product that ships. I highly recommend using an electric screwdriver for time and to protect your hands. I did the whole thing myself in about 3.5 hours and my hands took a week to heal from using a regular screwdriver. If you're not into labor-intensive assembly, then you'll need help from someone you know or a professional. If you're not strong, balanced, or coordinated, then you will 100% need someone to help you during the step to lift the top into place over the bottom half. It's heavy. I did it myself, which was risky and thought for sure I was making a mistake it until it rather-quickly slid over the connector nubs. Moving the bookcase into place is also best with help. I dragged mine on smooth flooring and, because of the weight, some of the rubber protection left streaks that were tough to wash off. You'll also want to be sure the surface you're building on is clean. The surface of the wood will scratch and be noticeable on the black boards. I didn't do a great job vacuuming and wiping the area down before starting. My fault. Anyway, I love the end result. The only things that may be questionable for some buyers are the stickers that hide the screw heads and the little plastic brackets that secure the backing. Firstly, the stickers will begin to peel if you get any fingerprint residue on them before applying or if your home is too humid. They do give you extras if you make a few mistakes. I didn't use the plastic brackets for the backing though. You have to drill them into the wood, making your own holes. I didn't want to risk damaging the product. I'm sure they have a good purpose but I left them off. The product does include anti-tipping hardware. If you have kids and/or pets, you may want to secure it to the wall. As for the ordering process, the shipping to delivery timeframe is a mild rollercoaster. They are honest about keeping you updated, which is a lot. Sometimes too much. You have to watch the updates because my delivery was delayed by Fed Ex and their own updates often make zero sense. I was exhausted just from having to be available at changing times. Not on Wayfair, just the delivery process. Be sure to carefully inspect every single part for damage or signs of a returned product, and that you received everything listed in the manual BEFORE you begin. This bookcase was perfect for my office setup. I purchased two of them in the gray color. Easy to assemble, easy to move around once assembled.  Usually MDF manufactured wood has a low quality feel to it but the individual pieces felt well made and the structure as a whole once assembled was sturdy as if it was a solid piece to begin with. This came in a flat pack. Assembly took about 2 hours with my 3 year old helping. The wood pieces are actually really solid but once put together it wobbles . The bookcase itself pretty good, around 9 stars. But the assembly instructions were poor, around 3 stars. In addition, there were not enough wood dowels included. This bookcase did exactly what I needed! I’m very happy with this bookcase overall. It looks beautiful once assembled and styled, and it has a more elevated look than I expected for the price. The shelves are deeper than I originally realized, which actually worked out well because I was able to use it for books, skincare, fragrance, décor, small plants, and framed pieces without everything feeling cramped. Assembly took some patience, but once it was together it felt sturdy and looked much better than I expected. I especially like that it gives me enough storage without making the room feel heavy or cluttered. One thing I would recommend is purchasing furniture anchors for added stability and safety, especially since this is a taller piece. I would also suggest measuring your space and planning your shelf layout ahead of time because the depth can surprise you. Once I figured out how I wanted to style it, I really loved the finished look. I’ve been looking for storage options for a while, mostly for books but having the option for other things as well, and a dresser was too bulky while a book case was too narrow and tall. This is perfect. It’s well made and looks great. The back is pressed board with a wood laminate and there is definitely an order to install the back panels. There are no pre-drilled holes for the back panels, and while I did it through sheer willpower and determination, a power screwdriver would be helpful.
