Solid wood = excellent. It arrived quickly and in good condition. We have a matching closet system from the same brand, and this worked perfectly to fill unused space on the floor. We like this for our son’s books. No back on it makes it easy for books to slide into the inside of the carcass, which is a little annoying. The screws on the sides don’t sit flush by design. You could countersink yourself but that’s a pain on the butt. Good size for holding baby books, in terms of overall size and the size of the shelves relative to the size of the average baby book!. Very beautiful, functional and sturdy. Lots of storage space. Clean and modern design. It took 2 hours for my husband to put it together. Instructions lack some information but pictures make up for it. The wooden pieces did not come with any numbers mentioned on them which are used throughout the instruction book, so we had to use the photos and their holes alignment as our guide to figure out which piece they are trying to refer..
