I purchased this cute mechanical Sewing machine after my Singer machine of 45 years died. I am amazed at how streamlined it is! Instead of threading the top thread through 12 or more screw eyes, I only need to do three things. I prefer to use a written instruction book to learn and I found the Janome one to be alright for ME, a seasoned sewer, but it would probably be to brief and very confusing for a newbie. Light, Compact and Simple. Bobbin winding and threading machine was easy. First simple thread was nice and even with proper tension. I tried elastic, overcast and double overlock stitches - all three worked fine. It comes with "walking" foot for heavy fabrics. I bought in addition side cutting foot, that with overcast/overlock works like serger. Inclusion of extended table and the case is nice. The only minor thing that could be better is lcd display missing backlight - hard to read. I was looking for higher end machines, but they start above $500. CS7000X for me is just enough. Love it. Brother quality at its best. Love the stitch option, easy bobbin and all the included accessories, including a surprise extended work space. Our Family Servo motor allows control of the speed of the motor with a switch that lets you adjust between 0 and 33450 RPM. This makes it ideal for beginner sewers or delicate sewing. Once the adjustable speed is set, it remains constant no matter how hard the pedal is pressed, unlike with the Clutch motor. The Servo motor consumes less energy than the traditional Clutch motor and is more compact and light in comparison. The Servo motor is often used with more delicate fabrics or on projects that require the sewer to sew stitch by stitch. However, the Servo motor is more than capable of tackling the heavier materials like leather with the ease of the Clutch motor, while allowing the user to more easily control the sewing since the speed setting is adjustable. The Family Servo motor isn’t constantly running unlike its clutch style counter part thus the amount of heat created is almost negligible.

Blind hemming is ideal for skirt hems, pants cuffs, neckbands, sleeves, knitted materials draperies, etc. The adjustable stitch dial allows the sewer to modify the depth of the needle penetration, ensuring that the stitch does not show on the outside of the fabric. (Blind Hemmer). This machine also allows adjustment from 1:1 to 2:1 with a lever. This feature allows the sewer to skip every other stitch which reduces puckering on light-weight fabrics.

I recieved my POOLIN today!!! I love it. Interface is extremely user friendly. The User Manual is very well written making it comprehensible. I was able personalize a quilt top immediately, and the stitching reslults were phenomenal. Also, I tested one of the preinstalled fonts, used the USB drive, and the wireless function via institch, which all functioned correctly. I have not tested the sewing function, but plan to. This machine arrived in perfect condition due to great packaging. It came with tools, sewing notions, and some embroidery supplies that can be stored in a very nice case or storage container.
