Pumpkin Decorating Idea: Upholstery Nails
Try a new pumpkin decorating idea by using upholstery nails to create a glam look for your front porch or inside your home.
This faux pumpkin display will last you from Halloween through Thanksgiving and for seasons to come without your gourds going bad! You can, of course, do this project with real pumpkins if you are a traditionalist. But the beauty is being able to pull out your unique fall decor again and again. This look is just a little bit glam with black and white pumpkins and shiny upholstery nails, but you can adjust your approach to fit the feeling of your front porch. This easy, no-mess project will take an afternoon and is fun to do with friends or kiddos.
What You'll Need
- Faux pumpkins (make sure they are lightweight and/or Styrofoam)
- Upholstery nails or thumbtacks (antique brass or pewter)
- Hammer (optional)
Instructions
Insert each nail, one-by-one, to make a design. You may not need a hammer, because the nails should go in easily. If you misplace a nail, just take it out and move it.
Tip! Trace the design you want to achieve on your pumpkin with pencil first to create a guide for inserting the upholstery nails.If you mess up, just turn your pumpkin around and start over!
