This is the perfect indoor doormat for use on wood floors in high traffic doorways the non-skid backing (some kind of rubbery very flexible material) is thick enough to be weighty and grips the wood very effectively even though my floors are both sealed well-polished, so the mat really stays in place—and the rug side is very low pile but still very soft absorbent. The “beige” color leans just a bit toward gray and I think it looks great against my natural wood floors! *It does have a few bumps in it right now, just out of the box but I’m going to lay a few books on it overnight im sure it will be fine as it feels very flexible and should relax easily.. This mat was folded and sealed carefully in heavy plastic. It was then enclosed in another bag. I appreciated the extra packing material because you never know with the weather. Overall it is a nice rug. It has a non slip backing. There is no strong odor.y only gripe is that because it was folded several times, it wont lay completely flat and the corners are turned up. I moved into a small NYC apartment with too much stuff and no real foyer. There's a coat closet, but it's full.
