The Square Shape Antique Ivory Chinese Dragon Design Peking Rug is an exceptional example of late Qing Dynasty weaving from the 1880s. Hand-knotted in China using fine, lustrous wool, this square rug features a soft, luminous ivory field that serves as a dramatic backdrop for powerful, sinuous dragons rendered in cobalt and pale blue. The mythological iconography, including stylized clouds and auspicious symbols, is framed by a classic meander geometric border. With a 0.5-inch pile height, this piece exhibits the technical precision and restrained elegance characteristic of 19th-century court commissions. Originally intended for grand reception halls, this well-preserved antique textile offers a sophisticated blend of symbolic artistry and historical significance for any room.
