This Small Pictorial Antique Worn Distressed Signed Silk Chinese Rug is a rare pictorial narrative piece dating back to the 1920s. Hand-knotted entirely from luxurious silk, this runner features a sophisticated and muted color palette of creams, soft golds, and deep indigo. The detailed scene depicts a gathering of figures, such as scholars or immortals, rendered with remarkable detail typical of early 20th-century Chinese artistry. Its tight knotting ensures a durable yet soft texture with a 0.5-inch pile height. The design includes geometric elements on a central table and a border framed with traditional symbols and stylized cloud bands. This small scatter size rug is ideal for intimate spaces like a study or entryway, offering a luminous quality and a fascinating glimpse into cultural history.
