Antique Tapestry French Ivory 1750s Rug

The Antique Tapestry French Ivory 1750s Rug is an exceptional example of Rococo artistry from the reign of Louis XV. Hand-knotted in France using high-quality wool, this rectangular rug features a soft ivory ground with tan and white accents. The composition showcases a detailed mythological or pastoral scene framed by an architectural trellis and draped garlands. A lavish border of cascading roses, foliage, and birds highlights the period's fascination with naturalism and floral motifs. Measuring a magnificent room size with a 0.5-inch pile height, this museum-quality piece offers a rare glimpse into the opulent interiors of the 18th century. It transcends traditional floor coverings to serve as a monumental woven painting for any sophisticated space.
