The Antique Large Savonnerie Spanish Knotted Rug is an exceptional piece from the 1930s that blends French court design with Spanish craftsmanship. Hand-knotted in Spain from high-quality wool, this rectangular rug features a dynamic repeating trellis design with stylized quatrefoils and palmettes. The central geometric pattern is rendered in rich crimson and burgundy against a luminous ground of gold and yellow tones, creating a subtle aged patina. A wide, elaborate border showcases naturalistic bouquets and scrolling foliate cartouches, providing visual depth. With a 0.5-inch pile height, this monumental room-sized rug serves as a timeless foundation for formal living spaces or grand dining halls, perfectly complementing classical or transitional décor.
