The Antique Chinese - Peking Yellow 1920s Rug is an exceptional example of early 20th-century weaving from China. This hand-knotted wool rug features a highly sought-after imperial yellow field, a color historically significant to the Qing dynasty. The central medallion is rendered in rich indigo and cinnabar, depicting stylized birds and blossoms, while the open field is punctuated by delicately scattered floral sprays. A deep navy border frames the vibrant field with classical Chinese geometric key patterns and stylized peony heads, creating a visually arresting contrast. Woven with a dense, fine knot and a 0.5-inch pile height, this rectangular rug exhibits a soft luster and remarkable preservation. Its substantial dimensions make it a sophisticated and historically rich foundation for any grand interior.
