The Antique Chinese - Peking Blue 1880s Rug is an exceptional example of late Qing Dynasty craftsmanship. Hand-knotted in China from high-quality wool, this rectangular rug features a rich, deeply saturated indigo field characteristic of traditional Peking dyes. The design prioritizes open space and natural asymmetry, showcasing delicate sprays of peach and pale blue blossoms across an expansive blue ground. A broad ivory border, detailed with subtle cloud bands and stylized landscape elements, frames the composition. With a 0.5-inch pile height and generous room-size dimensions, this floral Oriental rug offers historical integrity and a regal presence suitable for grand interiors. Its sophisticated color palette and refined aesthetic reflect the traditional Chinese appreciation for negative space and elegant pattern work.
