The Antique American Rag Rug America Knotted is an exceptional piece of textile history originating from the late 19th-century American weaving tradition. This flatweave wool rug features a bold horizontal striped motif with a geometric allover pattern, utilizing a multicolored palette of dark charcoal, soft rose, pale blue, and vibrant gold. Hand-knotted from recycled fabric scraps, the rug consists of multiple vertical panels stitched together to create a durable, square-shaped floor covering. Originally intended for prominent spaces like farmhouses or large parlors, this piece represents a uniquely American vernacular textile art. With a low 0.25-inch pile height, this antique rug offers a striking visual rhythm and enduring utilitarian beauty that has lasted over 140 years.
