Antique Aubusson Large Room Size Wool Ivory Rug

The Antique Aubusson Large Room Size Wool Ivory Rug is an exceptional French textile dating back to the 1890s. Drawing from Neoclassical and Rococo Revival aesthetics, this rectangular rug features a luminous ivory field that serves as a canvas for a delicate floral pattern. A large central oval medallion filled with roses and foliage anchors the design, framed by scrolling acanthus leaves in subtle ochre and pale gold tones. Handcrafted in France using a flatweave technique, this wool rug offers a low 0.25-inch pile height for a sophisticated and understated texture. Originally intended for formal salons or grand dining halls, this piece showcases the masterful pastel shading and restraint characteristic of the Belle Époque era.
