About This Product

We were Inspired by Guastavino's exquisite tile arch when we create our Guastavino tile Collection; Guastavino was a Spanish architect and builder. Based on the Catalan vaults he created the Guastavino tile, a "Tile Arch System" patented in the United States in 1885 and used for constructing robust, self-supporting arches and architectural vaults using interlocking terracotta tiles and layers of mortar. Guastavino tile is found in some of New York's most prominent Beaux-Arts landmarks and in major buildings across the United States. It is used in a huge number of architecturally important and famous buildings with vaulted spaces. Guastavino was not the principal architect for most of the projects.

Features

  • Some colors are very similar to one another and change depending on the angle of illumination and viewing, so recommend ordering a sample before you make your final decision to purchase.
  • Suitable for indoor or outdoor wall and ceiling installations. Not recommended for flooring.
  • This Product has PEI Rating of 0 (endurance and hardness indicator), and therefore is suited for light-duty walls only.
  • Note: Do not dry-cut porcelain or ceramic tiles when installing due to the potential for exposure to silica dust. Use a wet saw or a score and snap tool when cutting.
