About This Product
Unique, authentic, and naturally narrow live edge spalted or wormy/ambrosia maple floating shelves are functional and gorgeous. These natural and narrow live edge hardwood maple ledges can also be used as a floating bookshelf or floating mantel. Gorgeous spalting or wormy ambrosia with complementary natural grain coloration of gray and peach.
They all have their own beautiful and unique character, and will always be created from kiln dried maple with either spalting or ambrosia, but no two will look the same. If you order multiple shelves in one order, we can create them from the same slab or same tree so they look similar.
These narrow wood shelves are custom, handcrafted, and made-to-order. The images are just examples of ones we've done to help you visualize the finished piece.
Features
- How it works: You choose your length. Depth will fluctuate 6" - 9" deep and be a thickness of around 1.75". Voids filled with soft black or clear epoxy. Finished with a low VOC, non-toxic tung oil-based sealer and urethane for a silky smooth matte/satin finish.
- Brackets included! Individual brackets support 45 pounds of weight PER STUD they're attached to. You must hit every stud at 16" on center to take full advantage of the weight capacity rating. Holes drilled evenly down the back of the shelf. Dry wall plugs will be included in case you cannot hit a stud. Please note anchors will decrease weight capacity rating. A sheet with helpful installation tips will be provided to you in your package!
- No mass manufacturing here: these shelves are handcrafted in the USA by a small business in Northeastern Ohio. The images are just some examples of ones we've done! What you receive will be similar but also uniquely all its own.
- Our wood is responsibly sourced from forest management companies. Although once a vibrant tree, feel good knowing you're revitalizing it by giving it purpose as a beautiful piece of art you can appreciate! These are kiln dried (forced heat to remove insects and drop moisture content to a workable level). However, there will be remaining natural bug holes and wormy markings. This emphasizes character and natural uniquness of the wood, but the insects are gone.
