Terra Bianca, white earth, is the clay body behind the Pietra Natale Figural Deer Sculpture, and it gives the deer a soft white presence that reads differently from the collection's serveware. Cristian Massaro hand sculpts it in Tuscany, a region known for its craftsmanship and for the artistry of the Renaissance, shaping the head, the legs, and the set of the ears so the animal looks still rather than posed. Pietra Natale is VIETRI's Christmas companion to the Pietra Serena collection, and this sculpture is the part of it that holds a room together, whether on a mantel, a console, a stack of books, or the center of a table between candles while a long dinner goes on. Restrained enough to stay out past Christmas, it carries a winter room through the quiet weeks after.
