Transferring food from the pan it baked in to a dish worth serving from is where dinner loses heat and looks worse. The Italian Bakers Medium Rectangular Baker removes the step. Handcrafted of Italian stoneware in Umbria, a central Italian region whose ceramic tradition runs to dishes built for the table, scalloped at the edge and solid in the hand, it is meant to go into the oven and then straight onto a trivet in the middle of the table where everyone serves themselves. The rectangular shape suits lasagna, roasted vegetables and anything that benefits from edges that crisp. It is freezer, microwave, oven and dishwasher safe, so leftovers go back into the same dish, into the refrigerator, and out again the next evening without a second pan entering the picture.
