When the benches are unfolded for play, the open sand area measures 31 inches x 44.75 inches (there is also sand under the benches). All measurements are approximate. Interior length and width of the sandbox area: 44.75 inches L x 44.75 inches W. Each bench can support up to 200 pounds. Meets all current, applicable ASTM safety standards. Holds approximately 750 pounds of sand to fill it 6 inches deep (calculated assuming an average of 100 lbs per cubic foot for dry sand). Really like this toy. It was pretty easy to assemble, the directions were clear. Very sturdy, 2 different adults sat on it and played.
