One year ago I bought a cheaper pergola from another company; it had the nylon roof you pull back with a cord, no side screens available. The roof was flimsy and noisy whenever there was a breeze, and if you forgot to close it tight before a rain, the weight of the water was going to tear it . It actually wasn’t 10x10 as advertised, maybe 9x9, and the sun came under the east & west sides, no you were seldom shielded from the sun. So I tried Wayfair after noticing my neighbor’s, got the same one only I ordered the pulldown screens for 2 sides. It also has a louvered metal roof ( huge improvement), we love it! What an amazing addition to our backyard. We purchased the 10x20 and couldnt be happier with it. It took me and the family about 6 hours nonstop to put together and I work very fast. It’s perfect for what I needed. I initially set out to find an aluminum model, but this one ended up being an excellent choice. It gets quite windy in my area, so I really appreciate the additional weight and stability. Assembly went fairly smoothly, although I did have to get a little creative when fitting some of the connectors that join the beams together (time waster for sure, better QA is needed). A good soft mallet definitely comes in handy for getting everything seated properly without damaging the parts. I was also missing one component when the package arrived, but the replacement was shipped within a couple of days. Fortunately, it wasn’t a part that prevented me from completing the assembly and there were no damaged parts. Overall, I’m very happy with the purchase and feel it was a great fit for my needs.. ​Great pergola and easy assembly, but with a couple of issues ​We really like this pergola, and the whole family is thoroughly enjoying the shade it provides on our deck. It was quite easy to assemble (we only needed two people for the posts and main beams) and I was able to do the rest by myself. ​However, there are a couple of things worth pointing out. As shown in the photos, some of the holes on the beams were not pre-drilled, which made installation a bit more difficult. Additionally, the hook used to move the louvers arrived with rust spots and a poor finish, which is disappointing for a brand-new item. Bought this to provide a sun windbreak for my potted fruit trees wanted something non-permanent. Looks great. A little tedious putting together due to the volume of screws nutprobably didn’t help that I put it together at night in an all black house. Tightened the rest of the way outside during the day. Love this canopy so much. I was able to put it together fairly easily but it does require some extra focus when assembling the sliding top shade. As far as daily use, the side shades and retracting top one are amazing. We’ve had some pretty severe storms and as long as the top shade is not open, it’s held up well. I would highly recommend.. We are happy with the purchase of this pergola. It was easy to assemble. It shades great. I do suggest making sure you fasten it to something sturdy. We bought the 20x12 to go over our back patio. The house has an eave so we measured and confirmed the stated height of the pergola would fit under the eave. The pergola ended up being several inches higher than the specs. I think 103 inches high when it was complete. Because of this, my husband had to buy a new blade to cut the rear poles several inches He also has to drill new holes. This worked out well but took several hours to address. The instructions aren’t great but we were able to follow them with minimal errors. Putting all the poles together was tedious but to be expected for this size project. Actually raising the pieces and attaching them to make the frame was not very difficult and we were easily able to accomplish it with three people. We had a downpour a day after putting it up, and only one spot has a drop, so I would say it’s pretty water tight. My husband doesn’t love that the roof isn’t opaque, so we may end up painting it. We’ll see. Other than the height issue, I’m pretty pleased with the quality for the price.
