Beautiful! Wish there had been more details on the various types of posts, poles, etc. I had wanted a freestanding weathervane, not one that needed to be attached to a structure. This finial looks great on almost any rooftop including the roof of a home, garage, barn, shed, gazebo, or office building. It is also an attractive focal point when used in the yard or garden.

Weathervanes have been looked up to for hundreds of years. Popular in Europe, weathervane is valued for the function as much as the design. Farmers, seafarers, and others would watch the weathervane to get the weather forecast by paying close attention to changes in breathing, an indicator of bad or good weather. It is a hand-crafted fully-functional weathervane. Yes, it will still tell you if the wind is changing direction and will look great doing so.

Quality cupola! I installed this on a backyard shed that has a ridge vent. I cut the ridge vent as recommended in the installation instructions - a bit nerve-racking, but it turned out fine. I stapled screen on the inside of the louvered section to keep wasps from setting up house inside. I added a weather vane - the inside bracket is sturdy. Very well made!. Scott. Pleasant Grove, UT. I like the design very much, the quality of material and construction. The packaging was somewhat flimsy as the cardboard wrapper was partially open when received. I feared there may have been parts missing but it was fine. The weather vane is just a bit too short for my taste; it could have been a foot to 1 1/2 feet taller although I did note the measurements when ordering. It is too short and part of the length goes below ground to anchor it into the soil so height is lost here as well. It should be re-tooled to be longer.. Patricia Joan. Whitby, ON. Mon May 10 2021
