We suggest that birdbath tops not be left outside in the winter. Once the top fills with water/snow and freezes, the top may crack. All birdbath/fountain bases, bench legs, and statuary should be raised off the ground in winter so they will not freeze to the ground surface. Ideally, a fountain should be stored indoors in the winter away from the elements. However, if a fountain bowl must be left outside, remove all pumps, rubber stoppers, drain pipes, finials, and small components, and cover the top with burlap or any absorbent material (old blanket/towel) and then wrapped with dark plastic, making sure that water does not accumulate in the basin and freeze. Fountain pumps, finials, and other small components should be stored indoors. Check the fountain periodically to ensure that the cover is secure and water is not accumulating in any fountain component.

Nice bird bath and VERY easy to set up and I like the 'antiqued' look of it. Not a big thing, but note that it is really shallow in terms of the amount of water it holds (<.5"),so be prepared to fill it daily if there's no rain. It also came with a pretty decent scratch in the basin of the bird bath, hopefully that wont be an issue with the finish coming off in the future. I like the size of this resin birdbath. I like the overall look. I like that it simply twists in place together without the need for screws and hardware. I like the height of it. It comes with 3 little anchors but I found that these do barely anything to keep it actually in place (despite different placement options) as it just easily pulls right out of the ground, so I ended up using those 3, PLUS 4 of my own of a different style, and that hopefully holds up to the winds we can get in this area. Also, I don't know if the "Made In China" paint is safe for the birds, so hopefully it doesn't peel off easily or anything. My piece also came with a small defect on the pole. This Vidrine Leaf Birdbath has a small Tripod Stand that can be placed on a deck or tabletop, or a pedestal. The copper bowl has a curled stem detail, embossed leaf design and verdigris finish. The threaded base on the underside of the bowl attaches to the small three-footed wrought iron stand and is perfect for rock gardens, tabletops, and low border plantings.
