Have charcoal hot and ready to use in minutes, this Charcoal Starter uses a chimney effect that concentrates the heat from your starting fuel to light the charcoal. This Charcoal Starter is constructed from aluminized steel and fitted with a cool-touch handle (although, grill gloves are recommended when hot). This Charcoal Starter holds enough charcoal to fill most charcoal barbecue grills. To use, fill the underside of the Charcoal Starter with loosely crumpled newspaper, empty paper or cardboard egg carton, or paper towel. I’ve been using the Napoleon 3-piece griddle starter set GATL012 on my Enameled Cast Iron Reversible Griddle 56041 for the past few weeks. The soft touch handles provide a good grip, even when there’s a little grease and fat on them. The long spatulas make it easy to get to the back of the griddle without having to put my hand deep into my Phantom Prestige 500. The beveled edges have made it easy to get under and flip burgers, and eggs, as well as chop up steak meat. This Classic 1/2 shovel design would be at home in any old school diner griddle cookhouse. Solid stainless steel, 3 rivets attaching the handle, comfortable rubber grip, a generous scoop area with sharpened left side and front end for scooping and chopping and a rounded up rear and right side scoop to catch the goods. It is important to know that this utensil has been built as a right handed tool. And in practice it performs as expected. No surprises, and only comment is that the handle may be a bit short for a hot grill, but as a positive the shorter handle gives the cook better control of this instrument.
