Duraflame Crackleflame firelogs provide a convenient and authentic indoor and outdoor fire experience with the soothing, crackling sounds of a wood fire. Duraflame firelogs light faster and burn more completely than firewood, and because far less material is consumed when burning a firelog, significantly fewer pollutants are emitted than a comparable wood fire. 80% less fine particles, 75% less carbon monoxide, 90% less hazardous air pollutants (Source: Dec 2005 Environment Canada/US EPA Reg. 5). UL listed. A Duraflame firelog consumes 80% less material than a comparable 3 hour wood fire, and burning firelogs instead of wood results in significantly fewer trees cut down for use as firewood. When it comes to getting the most out of your Vented Gas Fireplace set, Pleasant Hearth Vermiculite provides many features of a wood-burning fire that cannot be achieved from a gas log set alone. Vermiculite helps spread gas evenly throughout the entire burner pan for a more full flame pattern and well-fueled fire. Pleasant Hearth Vermiculite doubles as an ash bed. Pair with Glowing Ember Fibers/Rock Wool (GEF100) for an enhanced look - sold separately.

I've never used vermiculite in our gas fireplace before, so I tried it and liked the snapping noise it made - or I am assuming that was what was making the noise. It sounded like a crackling fire - subtle but very nice. We liked it but as for our cat, he understandably didn't like the fire or the crackling sound - we all survived a house fire last year so he still has a bit of an issue with fire and heat. He 'promptly' left the room and headed down cellar.. Jean. Little Falls, NY. Sat Feb 19 2022
