A Halloween Scene Painted Around a Pumpkin
The Talavera Pumpkin is a hand-painted ceramic pumpkin from our Talavera range, with a different scene on each side and a cut jack-o'-lantern face that glows when you light it from within.
Two Sides, Two Stories
Walk around it and the artwork changes. One face carries the classic grinning jack-o'-lantern, eyes and mouth cut clean through the clay so light escapes. Turn it and you find a painted scene instead: a grey cat in a red witch's hat, bare black trees, leaning headstones marked R.I.P., a bat or two in a graduated sky that runs from blue down through yellow.
The ribbed gourd shape is modelled into the ceramic, down to a curling green stem on top. This is Talavera Halloween decor that rewards a close look rather than reading as one flat motif.
Painted by Hand, Piece by Piece
Every surface is brushwork. You can see the strokes in the sky, the outline around each headstone, the quick dashes that make the branches. Talavera is a Mexican majolica tradition built on exactly this: white tin glaze, bold color, a painter working freehand.
So hand-painted pumpkin decor varies piece to piece in color and detail, and no two faces come out identical. With handmade pumpkin decor, that variation is the value.
Lit or Unlit
The cut face means it works as a lantern. Set a flameless candle or small LED puck inside, and the eyes, nose, and mouth throw light across a porch floor. Unlit in daylight it still reads as ceramic pumpkin decor , since the painting carries it. A decorative pumpkin that works both ways earns its place in the box each year.
Where to Put It
A porch step, an entry console, a mantel, a dining table through October. Outdoors it works as a decorative garden accent beside a path or at the foot of a planter, and ceramic lasts in a way a real pumpkin does not.
